Elephants damage huts fields and fodder in Jharkhand

Lohardaga, Sep 22 (ANI): A herd of about sixteen elephants created havoc in a village of Lohardaga district in Jharkhand as they rampaged through huts and fields, forcing people to flee out of fright. A resident, Shadik Khan, said that the villagers, especially children are scared. The herd comes in the evening and people run out of their homes for their lives. The elephant menace is giving villagers sleepless nights, he added. Meanwhile, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Ashok Kumar Singh, said they would assess the damages done to get the villagers compensated by the government. Sep 22, 2014

Paid news case: Writ petition by Ashok Chavan allowed

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): The writ petition by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in paid news case has been allowed by Delhi High Court on Friday. The complainant's lawyer said that the Court has allowed Chavan's petition and added that being the complainant they want to see the directions and conditions given by him to the Court under which his petition has been allowed. Robert Vadra may lose airport security privilege, politicos react

New Delhi, Sep 10(ANI): According to reports Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has asked the aviation officials to tone down the existing list of people exempt from the security checks at airports. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has 30 people on the exempt list which begins with the President and goes up to special protection group protectees. The list also includes the Dalai Lama. The only individual listed in that list (on number 31) is Robert Vadra. New Delhi, Sept 9 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 54.53 points down to stand at 27,265.32. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 20.95 points down to stand at 8,152.95. ASHOK LEYLAND LTD. and NHPC were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.44% and 5.14% along with IDEA and BHUSAN STEEL with an increase of 5.05% and 5.00% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SOBHA and UNITECH with a decrease of 3.99% and 3.21% along with TORNT POWER and NATIONALUM with a decrease of 3.12% and 2.62% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 64.91 points at 17,776.72 while the banking sector is down 39.20 points at 18,511.09 and the reality sector is down 19.73 points at 1,759.28.
