Kaziranga National Park reopens for visitors

Jorhat, Nov 02 (ANI): Kaziranga National Park in Assam, which is home to the largest number of one-horned rhinos has been reopened for the visitors. Forest minister of Assam Rockybul Hussain inaugurated the re-opening by cutting the ribbon amid prayers and rituals. Hussain also flagged off the first batch of elephant safari of 13 elephants for a group of tourists from countries like Australia, United States and United Kingdom. Hussain also urged the people to be more committed for the conservation and protection of the rich bio-diversity of the park and help in maintaining its natural beauty. The Kaziranga National Park is a World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's great one horned rhinoceroses. Nov 2, 2014

Nagaland and Assam Chief Ministers meet Rajnath Singh over growing border tensions

New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Assam on Wednesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh amid growing tension at the state borders. The meet comes at a time when a 1000-hour deadlock has been imposed in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, which shares its border with Nagaland. It was called on Monday by the Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) against a delay in announcing dates for talks with the government for creation of a separate autonomous state within Assam under the Indian Constitution. Assam, Oct 26 (ANI): Nine people have been killed and many injured in a bus accident at Nagaon in Assam. The mishap occurred at around 2 am on Sunday. The bus belonged to the Assam State Transport Corporation and was going from Lakhimpur district to Guwahati. A total of 33 people were reportedly on the bus. In holy town Varanasi, many visually impaired children have made beautiful and colourful assortment of earthen lamps and candles in various shapes and sizes ahead of Diwali. This empowers the visually impaired and let share the spirit of Diwali with everyone. The children of a school for the visually impaired started the preparations a month back. New Delhi, Oct 19 (ANI): From Aamir Khan to Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher to Vivek Oberoi along with several other film and music personalities joined hands for a special concert 'Hum Hain Umeed-e-Kashmir' to raise funds for the flood victims of Kashmir and Assam in New Delhi. The concert was an initiative of the entertainment industry led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Media. Voicing their concerns over the issue, stars urged people to make their contribution in whatever way possible. Fire engulfs coach of election special train near Allahabad

Allahabad, Oct 18 (ANI): A coach of an election special train returning from Maharashtra to Assam carrying election duty army and security officials caught fire near Allahabad. The bogie was separated from the engine and later the fire was put off. District Magistrate of Allahabad, VK Tiwari said that the fire was controlled by fire officials and ambulances are also called in to tackle the situation.
