New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Almost 20 new faces are expected to take oath of office to be a part of the reshuffled Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manohar Parrikar, who tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Goa on Saturday, is widely expected to bag the post of the next Defence Minister. The BJP Parliamentary Board held a meeting in New Delhi on Saturday to finalize the list of leaders joining the Union Cabinet. Besides Parrikar, party MPs Anurag Thakur, Col. Sonaram Chaudhary and Hansraj Ahir are among those likely to be included in the Cabinet. BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are also expected to be allotted Cabinet berths. Former union minister Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant too is in the race for the Cabinet berth, with reports suggesting that the first-time Hazaribagh MP is being considered as a Minister of State (MoS) for Defence or Finance. Shimla, Nov 7(ANI): Villagers in India's northern Himachal Pradesh state organised a fair to promote traditional dance of archery, 'Thoda', on Wednesday. The fair, which was held at Raggyan village, over 20 kilometres from Shimla city, aimed at preserving the traditional art. Many young archers were seen performing the art during the fair and urged more and more youth to preserve this heritage. On the beats of traditional drums, people aim at each other with bow and arrow on legs. One of the organisers, Pawan Thakur, said that young generation should now come forward and develop such ancient art. This fair is a blend of religious belief and love for century-old 'Thoda' sport. Mumbai, Oct 31 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Friday (October 31). The oath taking ceremony was held in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was the first time that a Chief Minister's oath taking ceremony was being held in a stadium. BJP core committee members Eknath Khadse, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde, former Mumbai BJP president Prakash Mehta, Palghar district tribal leader Vishnu Sawra, and Chandrakant Patil also took oath as cabinet ministers. Condemning reactions flow over UP Police reply to RTI on Rape

Delhi/ Lucknow, Oct 30 (ANI): Condemning reactions flowed on Thursday over the improper reply given by Uttar Pradesh Police to an RTI filed questioning the reasons for increasing rapes in the state. The police had replied to the RTI saying that improper dressing of women, use of mobiles and internet is responsible for increasing crimes against women. Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women, Barkha Shukla Singh said that such remarks made by the police officials are condemnable and unacceptable. IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur said that being a police official himself he finds reasons given by the police inappropriate. The buffalo fight organised in Poabo village nearly 10 kilometers from Shimla saw villagers coming from more than 15 villages who brought their buffalos to participate in the match. The century-old buffalo fight is performed annually and involves the specially reared animals being brought to the ring, following which they are provoked for the duel. New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of Lok Sabha MP from Bongaon, Kapil Krishna Thakur. He has extended his condolences to the bereaved family of the TMC leader. According to reports, 73-year-old Thakur breathed his last in a city hospital in Kolkata on Monday. Thakur, who represented Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, had been suffering from a lung infection. Party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid her last respect to Thakur describing his demise as a great loss to the Matua sect of Hindus. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
