BJP lauds PM's initiative to launch 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme', Congress SP call it 'useless'

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): BJP on Thursday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to launch 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme' to improve the child sex ratio (CSR) on January 22. The issue of decline in CSR is complex and multi-dimensional and the scheme will address the issue within the broad framework of survival, protection and education of girl children. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manish Tewari and Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that these campaigns are useless unless not practiced in day to day life. The leaders quoted PM's other programmes like 'Make in India', 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' etc. to show how all such initiative failed on the ground. Jan 15, 2015

Politicos react as over 100 bodies found afloat in River Ganges in UP, demand probe

New Delhi/ Lucknow, Jan 14 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday react as over 100 bodies were found floating over River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh. More than 100 decaying dead bodies surfaced in the river Ganga near Pariyar between Kanpur and Unnao. The administration, which indicted these were reportedly bodies that are immersed in the river in the hope of salvation, was caught by surprise by the high number. The administration has however ordered an investigation in the case. Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said that the ministry will act after looking at the report in the matter. SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that the Hindu ritual of giving away the bodies in the river for salvation may be the cause. New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Congress leaders on Wednesday should confidence in Ajay Maken as the face of party for the 2015 Delhi Assembly Polls. The Congress high command had on Tuesday, named party general secretary Ajay Maken as the head of party's 101-member campaign committee for the upcoming Assembly elections. Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit welcomed the decision and said that she will participate in the campaigning but had informed about not contesting the polls beforehand only. New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): Politicos reacted as CBI on Monday examined a whole-time member of SEBI in connection with the Saradha Chit Fund Scam. SEBI member Rajeev Kumar Agarwal was summoned to CBI's Kolkata office on Monday and was questioned for over four hours. This is the first time a serving member of SEBI has come under CBI scrutiny. BJP said that the proposal was accepted in order to fulfill the promises BJP did before coming to power.
