Srinagar, Aug 22 (ANI): Shopkeepers who were displaced due to the construction of a flyover in the area look forward to better days as the Kashmir government rehabilitates them with a new shopping complex in Srinagar city, which promises to be one of the biggest shopping complexes of the valley. The complex was inaugurated by chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah. Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) and Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Company (JKPCC) constructed the shopping complex to rehabilitate the shopkeepers who were displaced due to the construction of Jehangir Chowk- Rambagh expressway corridor. Decorated with the traditional Dajji Diwari (wooden work) look on the outer façade, the two- storey shopping complex at Jehangir Chowk which is estimated to cost Rs 50 crores(500 million), has a floor area of 1,42,000 square feet. Hajj pilgrims undergo training session in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 22 (ANI): For the first time, a special training program was organised for aspiring Hajj pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (August 21). The two-day orientation program in Srinagar was a joint initiative by the district administration and Hajj Training Forum Bangalore and the State Hajj Committee. Based on the past experiences of pilgrims, the authorities organised the training program, where videos were played to give a real-time feel of the pilgrimage. The pilgrims were directed on what kind of suitcases and handbags to be carried. They were also asked to keep photocopies of passports and were told about the importance of the pilgrimage. Srinagar, Aug 20 (ANI): Over a hundred furious government employees staged a protest in Jammu and Kashmir to demand better wages and regularisation of jobs. Demanding better treatment, the employees under the banner of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) shouted slogans against the State government in Srinagar on Wednesday and said the government has not fulfilled the terms of agreement yet.
