Agitated Sugarcane farmers protest in Uttar Pradesh

Meerut/ Muzaffarnagar/ Lucknow, Dec 02 (ANI): Agitated farmers blocked roads in various sugarcane producing districts of Uttar Pradesh demanding re-functioning of sugar mills and clearance of farmers' dues, thereby disrupting normal life. Farmers blocked key routes, including the national highway, after a cane farmer committed suicide that led to violent protest. General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Jayant Chaudhary claimed that the agitation was a success. Munger: Maoists attack train, gun down 3 GRP jawans

Munger, Dec 01 (ANI): A group of eight to ten Maoists ambushed a running train, killing three guards of the railway police and injuring two in Bihar. The incident took place in Sahebganj-Patna Inter-City Express near Jamalpur railway station in Bihar's Munger district. In the daring attack, the rebels also looted five rifles from the railway police guards before escaping from the site. Fodder scam: SC issues notice to CBI on Lalu's bail plea, defers hearing till Dec 13

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday deferred the hearing on the bail plea of former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment in connection with the fodder scam case. New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organized a marathon for the youth in New Delhi to mark 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Sunday. The marathon, 'Run for awakening the nation', was organized at 17 different places across New Delhi. RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav flagged off the marathon and spoke about Swami Vivekananda's teachings. Madhav stressed upon his philosophies and said that the youth should contribute in nation building. Irom Sharmila's hunger strike enters its 14th year

New Delhi, Nov 05 (ANI): The "Iron Lady of Manipur" Irom Sharmila's hunger strike entered its 14th year on Tuesday. Irom has been on a hunger strike since November 04, 2000 in Manipur's capital Imphal, demanding the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act or AFSPA in the state and other disturbed areas across the country. AFSPA gives troops in conflict areas the right to shoot to kill suspected rebels without fear of possible prosecution and to arrest suspected militants without a warrant. Sharmila's fast began 14years ago, a few days after 10 people were shot in the Malom town in Manipur's Imphal valley, allegedly by the Assam Rifles.
