Maoists disrupt construction work, set vehicles on fire in Odisha

Koraput, Dec 24 (ANI): The Maoists set ablaze two vehicles in the Koraput district of Odisha as a mark of protest against the construction of a road in the district. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Laxmipur, Jalandhar Jali, confirmed the same. The camp of a contractor near Karli village was raided by the rebels and they torched a tipper and a JCB (Joseph Cyril Bamford) machine parked nearby. Jali also said the Maoists keep disrupting development work as they don't want their plans to fail. Dec 24, 2013

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 23 (ANI): As Christmas is round the corner, specially-abled girls in Kerala doubled their joy as they displayed their talent at a crib making competition organized on a beach in the state. The girls participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. The participants depicted the nativity scene which is the special exhibition of the birth scene of Jesus Christ. The depictions included infant Jesus his mother Mary and Joseph and other characters like shepherds, sheep, angels and farm animals. BSF seizes contraband drugs worth Rs 85 cr

Amritsar, Sep 15 (ANI): Alert personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab seized 17 kilograms of contraband heroin, worth rupees 85 crores in the international market. BSF has been working on several improvised operational guidelines to trim down the frequent narcotics smuggling from across the border. Addressing the mediapersons in Amritsar district, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of BSF, Ravi Joseph said that the patrolling team of force had laid an ambush and early in the morning they observed movement of two to three smugglers near security fence along the border fencing.
