17 soldiers killed after militants attack Indian army brigade headquarters near Pakistan border

17 soldier have been killed and 35 others injured after four gunmen stormed Indian army brigade headquarters in Kashmir. India is blaming Pakistan for the attack. The assault, in which four commando-style gunmen burst into the brigade headquarters in Uri at 5.30 am (midnight GMT) was among the deadliest in Kashmir and has sharply ratcheted up tension between the nuclear-armed rivals. The army deployed helicopters to evacuate soldiers injured in the dawn attack that was followed by a gunfight. The raid comes amid heightened tension in Indias only Muslim-majority region which has faced more than two months of protests following the 8 July killing of a popular separatist field commander. China planning $1.5bn theme park that will take visitors to space in weather balloons

A large Chinese entrepreneurial investor is keen to get the jump on Virgin Galactic and launch trips to the edge of space using weather balloons from China. KuangChi Science has announced plans to invest ¥10m (yuan - $1.5m, £1.12m) into developing a futuristic theme park in Hangzhou province called Future Valley, which comes with a series of rides aiming to let people experience what it would feel like to be an astronaut in space. Syrian government helicopters drop chlorine on Aleppo

A suspected chlorine gas attack on the opposition held Syrian city of Aleppo has caused a reported 80 cases of suffocation, rescue workers say. The Syrian Civil Defence group posted footage on their Facebook page allegedly showing the aftermath of government helicopters dropping barrel bombs filled with chlorine. The footage shows children and adults having to be doused in water and treated with oxygen masks.
