Ramban, Nov 11 (ANI): Distancing itself from former SSP Ashiq Bukhari joining the party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has termed the reports of his joining as baseless. She said that the Press statement stating that Bukhari is joining the party was a clerical mistake. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked for clarification over the issue. He said that Bukhari was included in the party but seeing growing resentment within people, PDP distanced itself from him saying it was a clerical error. Nov 11, 2014

Jammu, Nov 10 (ANI): With growing chill in the air, the secretariat of Jammu and Kashmir moved to its winter capital, Jammu, on Monday (November10) with the ceremonial guard of honour for the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to mark the occasion. The bi-annual practice of shifting the 'Darbar' (Secretariat) between the two capital cities of the state dates back to the 19th century. The government operates from Srinagar during summers and from Jammu in winters. It is estimated that the whole exercise of relocating offices costs the government crores of rupees every year. New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday deferred hearing on Jammu and Kashmir flood relief to November 17. The petitioner in the case, Bhim Singh said that he filed a supplementary petition in the court and that huge loss has been incurred by the state in the wake of the disaster. He alleged that state chief minister Omar Abdullah is coming in the way of providing relief to the victims of flood. Call for shutdown in Kashmir to protest killing of two youths by Army

Srinagar, Nov 5 (ANI): A separatist leader and chairman of the moderate faction of All Parties Hurriyat (Freedom) Conference (APHC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, called for a complete shutdown on Wednesday (November 05). The strike call comes in the wake of the killing of two youths by the Army in Budgam district on Monday evening, soon after which there was a complete shutdown in the region to protest the incident. Security personnel have been deployed in Srinagar to prevent any untoward incident. As per local media reports, two youths were killed in Army firing after they did not stop at check points in Budgam district. The Army had received information on the movement of militants in Budgam after which they set up three check points. The youths did not stop at any point, which led security personnel to fire at them. The ruling party in the state, National Conference (NC), condemned the incident and demanded probe into the matter. Budgam, Oct 23 (ANI): The famous meadows of Kashmir's 'Tosa Maidan,' till recently used as a firing range of the Indian Army echoing with gunshots, will soon be transformed into a spot of tourist attraction. Tosa Maidan, also known as the 'King of Meadows', is situated in the Pir Panjal range in Budgam district. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, said that the Army's lease for the field firing range in Tosa Maidan in Budgam district will not be renewed. Tosa Maidan was leased to Indian Army for setting up a firing range in 1964. Named 'Operation Fallah' the Army has totally cleared off the unexploded shells and transformed the Tosa Maidan into a clear zone of meadows and forested area within a record time span of three months.
