Mumbai/Pune, Sep 08 (ANI): Thousands of devotees in Mumbai on Monday bid farewell to Lord Ganesha, as they thronged to immerse the idol after completion of the 10-day festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Mumbai witnessed a beeline of devotees with huge idols of Ganesha walking across streets or on trucks and other vehicles. Security measures were beefed up across the state as thousands of devotees took to streets to bid a colourful farewell to Ganesha. Ganesha is regarded and worshipped as an index of knowledge and also the harbinger of auspicious tidings. The annual festival of Ganesha Chaturthi usually falls between August and September. Pune, Sep 06 (ANI): A cultural festival in Pune dazzled audience with classical dance performances by Bollywood stars.Veteran Bollywood actress and a noted classical dancer, Hema Malini opened the event with a stunning 'Ganesh Vandana' performance with daughter, Esha Deol, in honour of Lord Ganesha. The performance was a part of the Pune Festival which is held every year during the festive season of Ganesh Chaturthi and has completed 25 successful years last year. Bollywood Actress Gracy Singh, along with her group, also presented a dance performance.
