New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Foreign minister, Sushma Swaraj, on Wednesday flagged off the annual Hindu pilgrimage, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, to the holy Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, the water of which is believed to cleanse all sins according to Hindus. Mansarovar Lake and the flanking Mount Kailash, which is the highest mountain in Tibet at 22,022 feet, are revered by Hindus as the abode of their god Shiva. Etawah, June 07 (ANI): Illegal sand mining has become a major issue in Uttar Pradesh. Villagers in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh complained that sand from a natural lake in the area was being mined and at least 150-200 tractors worth of sand was being carted away from the area. Villagers also said no one has complained yet because they believe it to be a government property and they do not know whether the mining is illegal. Tripura, June 07 (ANI): A group of unemployed youth launched Bamboo Enterprises United (BENU), a handicraft workshop and community facility centre, in Katlamara village in 2004. The aim was to be self employed by utilising the locally available Kanakaich variety of bamboo. The village was once a hotbed for militants and lacked proper employment and business opportunities for the youth. These young entrepreneurs provided training to rural artisans to create various bamboo items, including furniture More than 100 people are currently engaged with the project and supply bamboo products in the country and abroad.
