Minor explosion outside polling station in J and K

Bandipore, Nov 25 (ANI): A minor explosion took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipore district on Tuesday morning reportedly. Security officials say that it was a very low intensity blast in a rocky terrain of the district, and added that there were no casualties so far. In the wake of the blast, the security drill in the district has been tightened, given that the first phase of assembly elections in the state is currently on. The DIG of North Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Butt said that there was no need to panic. Meanwhile, about 20 percent voting was reported in the state till a little after 10 a.m. this morning. J and K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hits out at opponents for demanding polls in flood hit state

Bandipora, Nov 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday hit out at his opponents for demanding elections in the state in wake of massive floods. Abdullah alleged that central ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opposition Congress party and state's main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), didn't care for distressed people. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Roads in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city, were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. Meanwhile, Abdullah also replied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegation that state government was enmeshed in corruption. Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 22 (ANI): People of Jammu and Kashmir hoped for good governance and redressal of issues from state government in upcoming assembly polls. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and will end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. Various political parties are holding rallies in the state in a bid to garner votes Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti also addressed rallies and met people in Bandipora district in a bid to gather support. Mufti said that valley needs a government that can improve the overall condition of the state with water, power supply, employment, good roads and hospitals, which her party promised to deliver. Goa, Nov 20 (ANI): Movie buffs would get a taste of Indian as well as foreign films as 11-day International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is going to kick-off from Thursday (November 20) in Goa. The event will be inaugurated at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Bambolim and offer a wide variety of 110 films and 28 Oscar entries. The chief guest of the 45th edition of IFFI will be Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. The event will also pay tribute to British filmmaker Richard Attenborough, who died in August this year. Special homage will also be paid to Bollywood actors including Zohra Sehgal, Suchitra Sen and Farooq Sheikh. Northeast region will be a special focus and nine northeast films will be showcased at the festival. Srinagar, Nov 17 (ANI): A BSF trooper, posted outside Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah_s residence on Monday accidentally opened fire from his automatic rifle, police said. According to reports, the BSF trooper was immediately detained and disarmed after being identified and is being questioned for further information. Tension spread in the high-security Gupkar road area as people believed that the attack had taken place at the chief minister_s residence. Meanwhile, Abdullah posted a tweet expressing full faith in his security force despite the incident.
