New Delhi/ Bhopal, Feb 18 (ANI): In a major controversy with Defence Ministry's statement, a senior DIG of the Indian Coast Guard BK Loshali has claimed in a newspaper report that he ordered to destroy the suspected Pak boat which was found 365 miles off Porbandar coast in Gujarat. Reacting to it, Defence Expert Praful Bakshi said that such statements are always misinterpreted and added that focus should be laid on the fact that Coast Guard prevented a mishap from taking place. Major General (Retired) SR Sinho said that this statement should be taken seriously. The news created flutter in the defence establishment and subsequently Loshali has denied saying what the newspaper has reported. Border guard kills his colleague and injures four others

Malda, Feb 17 (ANI): In yet another fratricidal incident, an Indian soldier killed his colleague and injured four others in West Bengal on Tuesday (February 17). Basant Singh opened fire on sleeping personnel after a heated argument, killing a head constable at a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Malda town. Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Raj Singh Rathor, said the assailant ran away after the incident and search is on to nab him. Indian armed forces have been grappling with rising incidences of soldier suicides and fratricides. Reactions come in over India's nuclear deal with Sri Lanka

New Delhi/ Chennai, Feb 17 (ANI): Congress party took a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party after the Narendra Modi-led government signed a nuclear energy agreement with Sri Lanka. This deal is India's first breakthrough with the new government of the tiny Indian Ocean island where China has been building ports and highways in a diplomatic push in recent years. Under the deal, India will help Sri Lanka build its nuclear energy infrastructure, including training of personnel, the Indian foreign ministry said. Later, India could also sell light small-scale nuclear reactors to Sri Lanka which wants to establish 600 MW of nuclear capacity by 2030, a Sri Lankan official and an Indian analyst said earlier. UN special envoy Michael Bloomberg meets Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): UN Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change, Michael Bloomberg, on Monday (February 16) met India's Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi with bids to help India develop smart cities and move closer to cleaner energy. Bloomberg, the founder of financial software, data and media company Bloomberg L.P., is also slated to meet Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, later in the day. As per reports, Bloomberg's charitable foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies will assist India's Urban Development Ministry to handpick cities for the smart-city project on the basis of urban reforms like sanitation and ease of doing business, to be implemented in a 10-year period.
