On 10 October Louis Therouxs debut film My Scientology had its general release in the UK. The documentary maker has had a long running fascination with the subject, and the film takes an in-depth and controversial look at the religion. Scientology is a relatively new religion founded by Ron Hubbard in 1954. The film is controversial as often the subject is avoided for fear of retribution by Scientologys followers. Thousands re-enacted the Battle of Hastings on its 950th anniversary. The sold-out event celebrated the 1066 victory of William the Conqueror over Anglo-Saxon King Harold.The annual event, held on the site of the original clash at Battle, near Hastings, drew an especially large crowd - thanks to high levels of interest in the anniversary year.
