Space X aiming for man on Mars in 2024

Elon Musks Space X is developing a interplanetary rocket and capsule with the ultimate goal of colonising Mars. The project has estimated development costs of $10bn (£7.7bn), but is aiming to be able to carry 100 passengers with cargo and fly every 26 months to Mars. Another of Musks aims is to bring costs down to an affordable level to attract volunteers, as he is hoping Space X tickets to Mars will eventually cost $100,000 (£77,000). Sep 28, 2016

Former Israeli leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres dies aged 93

Peres served twice as Labour prime minister as well as serving in a dozen cabinets and being knighted by the Queen. He shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize with the late former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat for reaching an interim peace deal in 1993, which never turned into a lasting treaty. Activists report white phosphorus attacks on Aleppo

Activists have reported the use of white phosphorus being used on rebel-held areas on Aleppo City, Syria, on 22 September. It has not been independently verified that white phosphorus was used but the video shows the sky being lit up and residents reported an attack with fires after the bombing, suggesting that some incendiary may have been used. If white phosphorus lands on a persons skin it can burn right through the flesh to the bone. Sep 23, 2016
