Red Cross Director-General says killing of staff seems impossible

At least six workers for the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) have been killed by the Islamic State (Isis) in northern Afghanistan on 8 February. Reportedly the Red Cross workers were in a convoy carrying supplies to areas hit by avalanches when they were attacked by the gunmen. A search operation has been launched to find two missing Red Cross that have gone missing since the attack. Feb 8, 2017

Avalanches kill more than 100 in Afghanistan and Pakistan

The death toll has risen to more than 100 after heavy snowstorms triggered avalanches in parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan over the weekend. Most of the key highways in Afghanistan have been closed due to severe weather conditions. Meanwhile, At least 13 people were also killed in an avalanche in Pakistan’s Chitral district, with many more still missing. Feb 6, 2017
