New Delhi/ Kanpur, Aug 07 (ANI): Mixed political reactions flowed on Thursday after Governor of Mizoram Kamla Beniwal was sacked by the Government 2 months before her tenure could be completed. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that the government should answer as to why Beniwal was removed just 2 months before her tenure was about to end. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said that Narendra Modi has done so to defame Beniwal as he had differences with her. Meanwhile, BJP_s UP Unit President Laxmikant Bajpai said that the governors who do not follow the tradition of resigning on the formation of new government are dealt like this. Hyderabad HC issues notice to Mallika Sherawat, govt over 'obscene' poster

Hyderabad, Aug 4 (ANI): The Hyderabad High Court on Monday issued notices to Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat and the government over a poster of the actress' upcoming film 'Dirty Politics' that shows her draped in the three colours of the national flag. The court has also asked them to reply to the notice in four weeks. Ms Sherawat, in the poster, is sitting on top of a car with a red beacon light, wearing the Indian tricolor. The public interest litigation alleges that this is "obscene use of the Indian Tricolour" and also that "the State Emblem of India has been used for cheap publicity." SC issues notice to government over selection of vigilance commissioner

New Delhi, Aug 04 (ANI): Supreme Court of India issued notice to central government on Monday on a petition seeking more transparency in the selection of Chief Vigilance Commissioner. A PIL was filed by the government of BJP for public integrity in view of appointment of PJ Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner after which the apex court laid a set of guidelines and directions for vigilance body selections. Senior advocate, Prashant Bhushan, reiterated court_s judgment saying matter will be heard after four weeks. Bhushan also added the ruling government has failed to abide by the directions of Supreme Court issued two years ago and also, the latest guidelines of the central government are not in conformity with the court_s judgment. The petition filed demanded a complete transparency within the selection manner and also emphasised upon the need of more precise directions by the Supreme Court. Aug 4, 2014
