British revelation in 1984 Golden Temple assault case sparks protests in India

New Delhi/Amritsar: British Foreign Secretary William Hague's statement that London did advise New Delhi on planning the deadly attack against separatists in the Golden Temple at Amritsar in 1984, sparked protests by Sikh bodies in India on Wednesday.SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that it is an act of treason by then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Denouncing the attack, the head priest of the Golden Temple, Gurbachan Singh, demanded an apology by the UK government. Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), president Avtar Singh Makkar, slammed the UK government for the attack. UK Prime Minister David Cameron ordered a review into the matter last month after the government inadvertently released official papers suggesting that Margaret Thatcher, then prime minister, had sent an officer from the elite SAS special air service to advise India on the raid. New Delhi, Jan 28 (ANI): Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday criticized Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's remarks that 'the government of the day in 1984 was not aiding and abetting the anti-Sikh riots', and said that it is very shameful that Rahul Gandhi has stooped to such low votes bank politics. She further accused the then ruling Congress Party in 1984 of abetting and participating in the riots, in which thousands of Sikhs were killed. Badal further said that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were targeted systematic butchering of thousands of Sikhs, and added that there was no law and order. South Korean President pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): South Korean President Park Geun-hye paid homage at Rajghat, the memorial of iconic freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi, in New Delhi on Friday.
