He said that Congress is the party who term the 1857 war of independence as a revolt. He said that it is Congress party who disvalued many leaders who gave life for the nation and failed to bring the ashes of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for years, who desired his ashes to be brought to Independent India after his death. President calls for improving quality of technical education

New Delhi Nov 7 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee, met the directors of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in New Delhi on Thursday and also discussed various steps to improve the quality of technical education and faculty development in NITs to bring them at par with the top technical institutions of the world. Mukherjee is hosting a two- day Conference of Directors of National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Around 30 directors are participating in the conference which is being organised for the first time to upgrade the level of technical education in India. The delegates would also discuss steps for inter-linkages of NITs with the industry so that the best of the students’ capabilities can be harnessed and used by professionals as soon as they join the industry. Several functions have been organised throughout the country today to highlight India's first woman Prime Minister's contribution in nation building.
