SAI says it wants Terry Walsh to continue as hockey coach

New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): The Director General of Sports Authority of India said on Monday that they want Jiji Thomson to continue as the coach of Indian hockey team. Thomson said that the matter regarding Walsh was between him and Hockey India so they have to mutually decide what steps to take. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the government is ready to discuss on any matter and they do not have conflicting attitude. Congress leader Manish Tewari talked about issues that the party is to take up in the session which includes black money among others. NCP leader Tariq Anwar hoped for a constructive session and said that party will coordinate but will debate on issues that won't be acceptable. Catholics in New Delhi carry out procession to mark feast of 'Christ the King'

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Catholics from across New Delhi and the neighbouring areas took out a peaceful procession on Sunday to celebrate the feast of 'Christ the King'. The celebration which marks the end of the liturgical year is an annual event and this year it concentrated on burning issues of the country. Father Stanley Kozhichira, former Media Director of Archdiocese of Delhi, said this year the Archdiocese of Delhi is emphasising on issues like violence against women and racism against people of northeastern states. The procession saw hundreds of devotees taking part in it while small children showered flowers and everyone sang devotional songs. Madhuri Dixit, UNICEF brand ambassador, dedicates Literature Carnival in Lucknow to Child Rights

Lucknow, Nov 23 (ANI): With UNICEF celebrating 25 years of its Convention on the Rights of the Child, brand ambassador, Madhuri Dixit recently dedicated the Lucknow Literature Carnival to children in Lucknow. At an event, Dixit also addressed child sexual abuse, bullying, child labour, sanitation and health issues. The carnival, a three-day event, organized by Lucknow Expressions Society is scheduled to start from November 28 and will culminate on November 30. Lucknow Literature carnival is conducted on the lines of the Jaipur Literature Festival and would include book launches, literary readings, workshops, screenings and cultural performances. Dixit, UNICEF's goodwill advocate, said that she always wanted to reach out to kids. Dixit felt that there is a dearth of writers who could write good books for children. Nov 23, 2014

All states in favour of interlinking rivers: Uma Bharti

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Saturday said that all the states, barring one or two, were in favour of inter-linking rivers, while addressing the 'Jal Mathan' conference. Bharti inaugurated the national conference, 'Jal Mathan', which will take up consultations with state irrigation ministers, secretaries for water resources. The three-day conference will also discuss issues like water security, water projects, farm water management and rejuvenation of water bodies. Bharti said the government would address concerns of the states and environmentalists.
