India's maiden Mars mission successful

Bangalore, Sep 24 (ANI): India's maiden Mars mission was successfully accomplished after the spacecraft entered the orbit around the red planet early on Wednesday (September 24). Indian space agency ISRO's low-cost mission to Mars successfully entered Mars, crowning India as the first country to execute such a project in its maiden attempt. The spacecraft, called Mangalyaan, was launched in November last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself closely watched the final phase of the launching at ISRO in Bangalore. The success of the Mars Orbiter Mission, lauded for its low price tag of $74 million, will boost India's five-decade-old space programme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to expand with better infrastructure and technology. ISROs Mars Mission main engine test fire successful

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): ISRO on Monday successfully test fired the main liquid engine of the India’s Mars Orbiter Mission which was dormant from 10 months. Scientist Amitabh Pandey commenting on the success of the fire test said that since the engine was dormant, it needs to be tested so that it can be successfully used on 24th for entering the mars orbit. He further said that he is hopeful that the Mars Mission will successfully enter the Mars on the morning of the 24th September. Sep 22, 2014

ISRO's Mars Mission faces crucial test today

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): ISRO's Mars Obiter Mission will face a crucial test on Monday when the main liquid engine of the spacecraft which has been dormant for 10 months will be fired at around 2:30 pm for a very short duration of four seconds. Scientist CB Devgan explaining about this test said that if the engine works today, then probably it will work on 24th when it is fired for a longer duration into an orbit around mars. Former ISRO Chairman confident of success of Mars mission

Bangalore, Sep 17 (ANI): Noted scientist and former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Udupi Ramachandra Rao, expressed confidence in the success of the nation's Mars mission,'Mangalyaan', expected to enter the orbit around Mars on September 24. Rao was speaking to media persons at an exhibition, 'MARS MISSION MELA', organised by the state planetarium in Bangalore for school children. The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister for Planning and Statistics, IT, BT, Science and Technology, S R Patil. The exhibition, which was organised by the state planetarium, aims at educating school children and people about the Mars mission, its journey and achievements. The exhibition will continue till 12th of October. On the 24th, special arrangements will be made so that people could also be a part of this historic occasion. Sep 17, 2014
