Srinagar, Feb 12 (ANI): Life returned to normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday after four consecutive days of shutdown and curfew in the region. Shops and markets reopened in summer capital Srinagar and other major towns of the valley. A shopkeeper, Bashir Ahmad, said his business was affected with the shutdowns and urged for permanent solution. Separatists had called for shutdown to mark second anniversary of hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Besides, Hurriyat Conference had appealed people to observe a complete shutdown as a youth, named Farooq Ahmad Bhat, was killed when forces allegedly opened fire on a group of stone-pelting protesters in Palhallan area of north Kashmir on Monday (February 09). A youth named Farooq Ahmad Bhat was killed when forces allegedly opened fire on a group of stone-pelting protesters in Palhallan area of north Kashmir on Monday. The youths were demanding the mortal remains of Afzal Guru - a Kashmiri --who was hanged in New Delhi jail for attacking parliament on December 13, 2001. Guru, who was held guilty in the case, was given death sentence by a Delhi court on December 18, 2002, after being convicted of conspiracy to attack parliament and waging war against the country and murder. Srinagar, Feb 09 (ANI): Protesters in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday demanded mortal remains of parliament attack convict, Mohammad Afzal Guru, two years after he was hanged. On Monday, security forces anticipating unrest imposed curfew in Srinagar city. However, residents staged a protest in the main city. On December 13, 2001, five gunmen stormed the Parliament in New Delhi, killing nine people, mostly policemen, before themselves being gunned down. Guru, who was held guilty in the case, was given death sentence by a Delhi court on December 18, 2002, after being convicted of conspiracy to attack parliament and waging war against the country and murder.
