Defence Expert hails Army for indicting 9 soldiers in killing of Kashmiri youths in Budgam firing

New Delhi, Nov 27 (ANI): Defence Expert Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Raj Kadyan hailed Indian Army for indicting nine soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer of 53 Rashtriya Rifles for killing two youths in Chattergam Chadoora area of Budgam district on November 3. Kadyan said that this shows that Army carries on its work with full dedication and without any bias. He also said that the course of action is to be seen as to what action the Army takes. He also assured that Army will give whatever punishment that should be meted out to them. The army completed its inquiry into the firing incident in which two Kashmiri youths had lost their lives, while two others were injured and found gross violation by the jawans. The Court of Inquiry recommended court martial proceedings against them. Nov 27, 2014

Machil fake encounter case: Seven armymen sentenced to life imprisonment

Sopore, Nov 13 (ANI): The family members of the youths who were killed in a fake encounter in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed satisfaction after the army on Thursday convicted seven men, including two officers and five soldiers, for their involvement in the case. In the 2010 Machil fake encounter case, three youths - Mohamad Shafi, Shehzad Ahmed and Riyaz Ahmed, were killed after being lured for jobs in Jammu and Kashmir, according to Ministry of Defence (MOD) sources. All the service benefits of the seven convicted armymen have also been suspended reportedly. Security forces had earlier claimed that they had killed three infiltrators and recovered five AK47 rifles, ammunition and Pakistani currency from them in the Machil sector. Nov 13, 2014
