Chennai building collapse death toll rises to 42, rescue efforts step-up

Chennai, July 2, (ANI): Death toll in the collapse of an under-construction building in Chennai has risen to 42 as rescue efforts have been stepped-up to locate the trapped from the rubble. Last week, the 11-storey under-construction building collapsed in Tamil Nadu. District Collector of Kanchipuram district, Bhaskar, said a total of 69 people were pulled out from the wreckage so far. Malkangiri, June 17 (ANI): Activists used puppetry as a medium to spread awareness about the use of technology for development in red corridor of Odisha. Volunteers of a nongovernmental organization (NGO) CGnet Swara held puppet shows on the streets of Malkangiri district in a bid to make the tribals aware about the correct use of technology at times of trouble. Puppet shows were conducted to educate the locals about usage of mobile phones as a medium to get connected with people across the country. Tribals were being taught how to record their messages in the mobile phones related to the various problems they face on a day to day basis. Tribal refugees in Tripura repatriated to Bangladesh

Tripura, June 09 (ANI): Authorities in Tripura sent back 90 Bangladeshi tribals who entered India illegally, seeking refuge, after ethnic clashes with non-tribal Muslims in their homeland last week. The repatriation took place through Gandacherra in Dhalai district of Tripura in presence of Indian and Bangladeshi officials and border guards of both the nations. The tribal people mainly consisting of Buddhists and Hindus had fled their homeland and entered into Indian territory after some "miscreants" allegedly attacked their homes in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), a tribal- dominated area in southeast Bangladesh that borders India and Myanmar. Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gandacherra, Bhaskar Das Gupta, said that the Bangladeshi nationals came to Tripura after facing ethnic violence back home. Jun 9, 2014
