Tourism sector of country to capitalise on Rupee fall

New Delhi/ Mumbai/ Goa/Kerala/ Agra, Sep 28 (ANI): The fall in rupee has made it cheaper to travel across India and the country's tourism is reaping the benefits with a surge in the number of foreign tourist arrivals as well as an increase in the number of Indians who are opting for the beaches of Goa over cruises on the Nile. The number of foreign tourists arriving in India between January and June witnessed a rise, but the big push is expected during the holiday season that gets underway from September-October, the tourism ministry says. Govt to launch new employment generation schemes: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi, Sept 26 (ANI): Rural development minister, Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday that the government would soon launch new skilled development, employment generation schemes to replace current ones like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA). The minister was launching the annual rural development scheme in New Delhi where he highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of the scheme. He said that it was not a permanent solution as the dynamics was changing in the rural India. New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday said that a meeting is soon going to be held with the Health ministry, corporations and hospitals to discuss the alarming spread of dengue in New Delhi. India shies from diesel hike, seeks $5 Billion fuel savings

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has shied away from introducing comprehensive energy subsidy cuts and on the contrary taken up a campaign on conservation of resources. Union Oil Minister M Veerappa Moily stated this at a news conference in New Delhi. He asked the citizens of the country to embrace car pooling, buses and cycling as well in a bid to curb fuel consumption. Moily said that he hoped to save $5 billion from fuel conservation measures even as he shied away from substantial measures such as raising diesel and other fuel prices as the electoral cycle hots up with polls due to be held by May 2014. Meanwhile, commenting on the 5 billion 'mega fuel conservation campaign', Moily said that the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) of his ministry along with various stake holders will join hands to promote fuel conservation in a variety of sectors. Mayaram said that the banks in India have not yet developed the capability of appraising projects for a long duration.
