Khobragade departed for India, asked to leave US: MEA

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): The foreign ministry on Friday said that Devyani Khobragade, at the centre of the fraud visa row has been transferred to New Delhi from New York. Khobragade has reiterated her innocence on charges filed against her of visa fraud and underpaying her nanny, according to the ministry. The Indian diplomat is flying back to India and will take up her duties at the Ministry of External Affairs, but for now, her children will remain in US. UPA admits to irregularities in coal block allocation

New Delhi/ Ranchi, Jan 09 (ANI): The Attorney General of India, GE Vahanvati, admitted to irregularities in the infamous coal allocation scam in the apex court on Thursday, media reports said. As per the reports, Vahanvati told the Supreme Court that something had gone wrong in the allocation of coal blocks, even though they took the decisions in 'good faith'. After the statement, the UPA government drew flak from the opposition. As per reports, the FIRs have been filed against BLA Industries Pvt Ltd, Gastron Technologies Pvt Ltd and some unknown officials of the Coal Ministry to whom the coal blocks were allocated during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime. New Delhi, Jan 2 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday signed the much talked-about Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2013, to create a powerful anti-graft watchdog. The Bill, which was passed by Parliament in the just-concluded winter session, provides for creation of anti-graft ombudsman to investigate corruption charges against public functionaries including Prime Minister, Ministers and Members of Parliament. Among other provisions, the Bill makes it incumbent upon States to make within a year their own law for setting up Lokayuktas on the lines of the Lokpal Bill. The Bill was sent to the President on Tuesday. It will now be notified in the official gazette for it to become an Act. The Act shall be notified by the Law Ministry. Jan 2, 2014

New Delhi, Jan 1 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that response from the US over dropping of criminal charges against Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragde was awaited but owing to the holiday season, things were delayed.
