Pak seeks early solution to intra-Kashmir trade issue

Islamabad, Jan 31 (ANI): Pakistan said it wants early solution to the issue relating to suspension of intra-Kashmir trade, so that the trade on this sector could continue. Efforts by India and Pakistan to increase trade and ease tension in disputed Kashmir have suffered a blow with Indian police saying they had seized more than 100 kilograms (220 lb) of heroin concealed in a truck full of nuts coming from the Pakistan side. Pakistan halted cross-border trade and bus travel across the Himalayan region after the seizure, and after New Delhi summoned Pakistan's acting envoy in protest. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the issue was under discussion between the two countries and it would be resolved soon. Jan 31, 2014

Government makes efforts to promote handloom sector in the northeast

Agartala, Jan 24 (ANI): Tripura recently hosted the 15-day-long National Handloom Expo at the Purbasha grounds in Agartala with an aim to encourage the handloom industry. The annual event is organized jointly by the Development Commission for handlooms, under the Ministry of Textiles and the Department of handlooms, handicraft and sericulture of the Government of Tripura. All together 60 stalls from 14 states and one from neighbouring Bangladesh were put up, showcasing the amazing handiworks of weavers and craftsmen. People were excited to get a chance to sample quality products from various places.
