Srinagar, Feb 21 (ANI): With winters slowly fading away, houseboat owners in Jammu and Kashmir have begun coring of boats ahead of the tourist season. Houseboats are the identity of the world famous Dal Lake attracting tourists from across the world every year. Houseboat owners have called in carpenters who are specialised in repairing boats by using the 'coring' technique. A houseboat owner Taseen Ahmad said they undertake the coring exercise every two years to keep boats in good shape. The coring experts charge rupees 1,000 a day. Coring of boats includes filling of gaps on the floor of the boat with special grass and repairing the damaged portion with expensive timber of the valley known as "deodar". The rally was organized as a part of the ongoing Bhoj Adventure Festival which aimed to generate awareness about beautification of Bhopal. The rally started from Shahpura Lake and concluded at Kaliyasot Adventure Zone in the city. 25 vintage cars from across Bhopal took part in the rally that was organised by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and flagged off by BMC Commissioner Tejaswi S Naik. Naik said the rally was a moment of pride for the citizens of Bhopal. In this almost 10 kilometer-long rally, vintage beauties like Austin, Rolls Royce, Ford, Willys, Maruti 1984 and others strutted on the roads enthralling the onlookers. Boating introduced in Manipur's Loktak Lake to attract tourists

Manipur, Feb 08 (ANI): Situated in the Bishnupur district, some 48 kilometers from Imphal, the Loktak Lake stretches up to 250 square kilometer area. One of the largest freshwater lakes of India, Loktak is also home to the world's only floating National park, Keibul Lamjao National Park. Surrounded by hills, the scenic beauty of the lake and the rich biodiversity attracts large crowds. Recently, the Loktak Lake Tourism Development Society introduced boating facility to attract tourists. There are more than 20 boats of different passenger capacity to ferry tourists across the lake. Some of these boats are fitted with music system and serve meal during the ride. The fare per person for a trip is Rs.20 to Rs .200, depending upon the hiring time and facilities.
