The red carpet was rolled out as stars arrived to promote their projects and receive praise for their work. Join us as we recap the biggest events from 2014. Let’s kick things off with the grandest red carpet of them all – the Academy Awards. Cate Blanchett and Lupito N’yongo not only took home the Oscar but they also topped everyone’s best-dressed list. Co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both sported the white tuxedo trend as they collected the golden statue for “Dallas Buyers Club”. But let’s not forget the Golden Globes - which drew A-listers from the big and small screen - and where Kerry Washington and Olivia Wilde glammed up their baby bumps. Sandra Bullock remained a fan favorite on and off the carpet when she won four trophies at the People’s Choice Awards. At the Grammys, Katy Perry hit a high note with her music inspired dress while Madonna suited up with son David. But it was Pharrell Williams’ Vivienne Westwood hat that stole the show and spawned its own Twitter account. And the Emmys were all about “Breaking Bad”. Not only did stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn take home awards but the much-loved show also won Best Drama Series. Stars are nothing if not stylish. We’re counting down the top 10 fashion trends for 2014. Crop Tops come in at number 10 with famous ladies such as Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus all sporting the midriff-baring design. Conflict Free Diamonds sparkle at number 9 with celebs opting to adorn their ring finger with rocks not mined in war-torn countries. Another gem lands at number 8 as stars glammed up their attire with Turquoise. Sofia Vergara, Emma Roberts, Emmy Rossum and Lupita Nyongo’o were among those who accessorized with the blue-green jewels. Men with facial hair makes the list at number 7. Scruffy was the way to go for those who wanted to show off their manly side. Orange may be the new black but at number 6, orange was the color of choice for many stars who wore the bold style on the red carpet. While the women may go daring, the men chose a throwback look as the white tuxedo jacket enters at number 5. Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey sported the trend as they both picked up Oscars. At number 4, belts were that little something extra to complete an outfit. While some celebs opted for a subtle touch, others went with the bigger is better approach.
