Govt announces measures to benefit people living in tribal areas

New Delhi, March 01 (ANI): Union Rural Development Minister, Jairam Ramesh, announced in New Delhi that the central government will improve the already existing welfare schemes and launch new programmes to benefit people living in tribal areas. Ramesh announced a number of measures while addressing a news conference. The most important announcement was the provision of 150 days of guaranteed employment to people living in tribal areas, as part of the government’s flagship welfare scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Despite freezing temperatures, rugby players wooed audience.During the snow festival, various winter sports like snow rugby, skiing, snow throwing championship were held.Local residents welcomed this step taken by the tourism department as this will bring tourists to Pahalgam in winter season also, which is also generate employment opportunities. Navy chief resigns after INS Sindhuratna mishap, politicos welcome move

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Political leaders welcomed Navy Chief Admiral DK Joshi’s decision to resign from the post following the INS Sindhuratna mishap. Congress leader DP Tripathi said that the naval chief took moral responsibility and resigned, while JD (U) leader Ali Anwar welcomed the move saying very few officials do such a thing. Meanwhile, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar pointed out the shortcomings of the Defence ministry and said that they should take responsibility of the series of mishaps in the Indian Navy. The centrally air conditioned office building, which has a provision to accommodate about 600 officials of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, is located on Jorbagh Road and in proximity to other central government ministries and departments.
