Salman Khans Being Human concludes its first leg of Veer

Mumbai, March 24 (ANI): Being Human & Thums-Up’s awareness and fundraising campaign ‘Veer’ on “Unleashing the Inner Potential of Persons with Disabilities”, culminated its first leg with grandeur in the presence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in India’s entertainment capital Mumbai. The campaign was kick started on January 26 and has been organized by Khan’s nongovernmental organization ‘Being Human’, soft drink brand Thums-Up, media news channel CNN IBN and American Indian Foundation. Khan said that the campaign aims to provide employment to maximum number of specially abled people. The campaign accomplished its first juncture and concluded with an event recalling the journey of the campaign. The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the specially abled people and also address them by providing them with education, employment, skill training and development, and pressed for specially abled technology. One of the organizers of the campaign Hemanth Paul hoped that the campaign gets bigger from what it is at present. The campaign accomplished contributions worth 7.5 million rupees in its first leg. Khunti, March 23 (ANI): Politicians in Maoist-infested Khunti district of Jharkhand expressed grave concerns as they face serious security threats from Maoists ahead of the general elections – a democratic exercise that the rebels despise. As per a report by the internal affairs ministry, Khunti has been ranked the topmost Maoist affected district in the country. Politicians said that as the mammoth exercise is just round the corner the people of the district are becoming increasingly scared of any Maoist activity. Meanwhile, the police said they are gearing up to put a fight against the insurgents and are getting support from higher authorities. Bangalore, March 18 (ANI): Toyota Motor Corp's (7203.T) Indian unit has temporarily closed its two plants where some workers had stopped production lines to protest a delay in salary hike after 10 months of negotiations. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the world's biggest car maker's Indian unit, had stated that some workers over the past 25 days had disrupted business as the management, labour union and local government negotiated wages. The subsidiary closed the factories on Sunday (March 16) - a non-production day - and did not state when it will reopen them.
