New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, aimed to provide satisfactory passport service to the people of the country, as she pinned hopes on speedy issuance of passport. Swaraj, while addressing mediapersons on 'Passport Service Day' on Tuesday said that authorities should conduct a brainstorming session to ensure timely issuance of passport. Foreign Ministry had declared June 24 as 'Passport Seva Divas' every year to commemorate the enactment of Passport Act in 1967. Protest against FYUP continue with demand of DU VC's resignation

New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): The members of All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday, while staging protest a protest in front of the HRD ministry over the Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) in Delhi University were caught in a scuffle with the Delhi Police. The students demanded clarification regarding admissions under the programme which has lead to widespread difficulties due to the ongoing tiff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the University. An AISA Member Anmol demanded DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dinesh Singh's resignation after he reportedly defended the FYUP against the UGC notices asking the varsity to roll back the course. ABVP members also protested outside DU's Faculty of Arts over the issue and demanded the VC's resignation. New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): After a high delegation meeting called by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, he said that they will hike import duty on sugar to 40 per cent as against the present 15 per cent. The decision and other such decisions came in order to discuss ways to bail out the sugar industry that is unable to pay Rs 11,000 crore dues to sugarcane growers. He said that the ministry will extend sugar export subsidy of Rs 3,300 per tonne till September this year and will provide additional interest free loan of Rs. 4,400 crore to cash-strapped sugar mills to make payments to sugarcane farmers.
