Security forces seize drugs worth millions near Pakistan border

Amritsar, July 09 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized heroin worth millions along with fake Indian currency notes near Pakistan border in northern state of Punjab. BSF personnel claimed on Wednesday to have seized four kilogrammes of heroin in the consignment which was confiscated in Amritsar on Tuesday. DIG of BSF, MF Farooqui, said the personnel challenged the intruder after noticing some suspicious movement on the other side of barbed fencing on India-Pakistan border. Poonch, July 09 (ANI): In order to boost LoC trade, the central government and the Kashmir government agreed to provide ISD calling facility to the traders of India and Pakistan for enhanced cross border communication between the nations. Custodian of Chakan Da Bagh Cross Loc Poonch, Bashir Ahmed Loan, said that the facility would allow traders to discuss issues and thus people from both sides would be benefited. The facility has also been hailed by the traders who feel that this would foster communication and benefit traders from both sides. Guwahati, July 8 (ANI): The All Assam Students_ Union (AASU) staged a protest in Guwahati city of Assam, opposing any move by the central government to resume construction of hydroelectric project along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The protesters resisted reconstruction of 2,000-MW Lower Subansiri hydroelectric project of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation at Gerukamukh. India_s power minister, Piyush Goyal, had announced that work on the dam project would resume within a week.
