New Delhi, Sep 17 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday reacted over Chinese President Xi Jinping s visit to India. Xi Jinping will arrive in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon on a three day state visit. He will be received by Gujarat Governor OP Kohli, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and her cabinet colleagues at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport at around 2 p.m. President Jinping, his wife and his entourage will be given a traditional welcome along with a guard of honour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome him in Vastrapur, after which, both leaders will hold talks. It is expected that both sides will sign three memoranda of understanding (MoUs). Of them, two are for relations between Guangdong and Gujarat and Guangzhou and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The third MoU is related to cooperation in the industrial sector. Sep 17, 2014

Gandhinagar, Sep 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought his mother's blessings on his 64th birthday, his first after assuming office amid greetings pouring in from across the nation on Wednesday. On the occasion of his birthday, Modi began his day by visiting his home state Gujarat. Donning saffron kurta, Modi arrived home, 23 km from Ahmedabad, alone in a normal vehicle without any security to meet his mother Heeraben on his first birthday after assuming office as Prime Minister. He touched his mother's feet and conversed with her. Heeraben fed him with sweets and blessed him. She also presented him with a gift as a gesture. Mumbai HC grants bail to DG Vanzara in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, politicos react

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, Sep 11 (ANI): Political leaders react as Mumbai High Court on Thursday granted bail to former Gujarat Deputy Inspector General of Police DG Vanzara in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. Vanzara has been in jail since 2007 on charges of having conducted a series of extra-judicial killings while heading the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia said that the biggest beneficiary of the encounter was the one who is heading the country and the country's largest party at the moment and that the bail doesn't make much difference. British law minister says India must open up its legal sector

New Delhi, Sept 02 (ANI): British law minister Shailesh Vara, who arrived in New Delhi for his three-day visit said India must open up its legal sector. The United Kingdom's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for the Courts and Legal Aid at the Ministry of Justice, Vara, will also be visiting Ahmedabad. His visit is the latest in a series of senior British government visitors to India to further strengthen the bilateral relationship with the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interacting with mediapersons in New Delhi, he added the United Kingdom and India have very strong links on trade, education and legal front.
