In a personal message to fans, K-pop star Se7en aka Choi Dong-wook spoke about his ill-fated visit to an adult massage parlour while serving in the military. The singer spoke about the events that unfolded on that day and sought to reveal the truth about what transpired three years ago.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, Se7en posted a long letter on his Instagram account. In his personalised message, the "I'm Going Crazy" singer apologised to several of his fans who stood by him and supported him when he was mired in a controversy. Se7en asked his fans to forgive him for not reaching out to them.
"I was hesitant to speak up because I didn't want my explanation to be the truth that many people didn't want to hear. However, I am summoning courage to communicate the truth for those who listen to me," he wrote.
He further elaborated on the events that unfolded on the day he visited an illegal adult massage parlour. According to the singer, he visited a Thai and a Chinese traditional massage salon prior to setting foot in the adult establishment. However, he found them to be shut.
The singer said that he waited to get a massage by a blind person but left even before he could get serviced as it would cause misunderstanding, reported Soompi. The "THANK YOU" singer claimed that media reports excluded his visit to the other massage salons.
"I absolutely did not do any bad action that many people spoke of and didn't have any intention to," he added and claimed the military found this to be true during its investigation. The singer said the Ministry of National Defence didn't file any charges against him either.
"However, it is obviously my fault for leaving the military without permission. That caused a lot of impact and I am still self-reflecting and apologetic about that part," he said.
In 2013, footage of the former YG Entertainment artiste at an illegal adult massage parlour went viral. According to Variety, Se7en was punished for visiting the salon while on leave to perform at a concert. The singer was given a 10-day military jail sentence and received an extension of his military service.
