Actress Abigail Breslin has been candid about why she did not report her rape even after battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) ever since she was raped by her ex-boyfriend.

Abigail, who rose to fame in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine, recently revealed her painful past on social media to mark the occasion of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a short poem about relationships.
Previously it was not clear whether the Scream Queens star did report her rape or not. But recently in response to an Instagram comment, she prompted back with a lengthy note which titled "Trigger Warning."
Abigail admitted and explained that why she did not prefer to report the sexual abuse. She began the note: "I did not report my rape. I did not report it because of many reasons.
"First off, I was in complete shock and total denial. I didn't want to view myself as a 'victim' so I suppressed it and pretended it never happened."
One of the most shocking facts revealed by the actress is that she was in a relationship with her rapist and she was afraid of not being believed. She lived in fear if her case would not lead anywhere or what if her 'rapist' would find out and hurt her even more.
The star remained tight-lipped about the identity of her ex. The star also disclosed that she was diagnosed with PTSD a year and a half ago. While she revealed that the attack still haunts her, she also added, "I have made a lot of progress since the event occurred, but I won't pretend it isn't something I struggle with. I still have flashbacks, I still get nightmares, I still jump when somebody touches me unexpectedly, even if it's my best friend tapping me on the shoulder."
Earlier in the month, the 21-year-old actress captioned the Instagram photo, "I knew my assailant. #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth #breakthesilence."
Abigail Breslin portrays the character of Frances "Baby" Houseman in Lionsgate's three-hour musical remake of Dirty Dancing (1987). The film will premiere on ABC on May 24, 2017.
