It looks like Maruti Suzuki's new revolutionary concept to sell premium offering is just getting bigger and bigger. The Nexa, the premium dealership chains, began its journey in India along with the company's premium crossover S-Cross in August this year. Later the Nexa floors also welcomed the new premium hatchback Baleno from Maruti's stable. Now we learn that Maruti's sedan offering Ciaz will also join the Nexa line-up in 2016.
IBTimes India learns from our industry sources that Maruti is getting ready to give a mild-facelift to its Ciaz sedan in the country and the model will also be upgraded as a premium offering to be sold through Nexa. The changes in the facelifted avatar of Ciaz would be limited to visual modifications and the model is expected be launched in February, around the 2016 Auto Expo. Maruti is expected to give Ciaz a premium touch both inside and outside.
Mechanically, expect the upgraded Ciaz to remain the same as the current model. Currently, Ciaz is powered by the 1,373cc petrol unit that develops 91bhp at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission. The diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system with 1,248cc displacement and develops 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
