Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope on "Scandal", recently piqued interest of fans when she said that she was aware of where her character was headed to at the end of season three.
However, she isn't fully aware of what's in store for her character, who left everything behind to "stand in the sun."
"I know where Olivia went, but I really don't know a lot," she told E!Online. I'm actually glad we don't get a full outline of the season, because then I don't have to feel bad about lying to people and not telling things. I don't know what's going on. All I have is through episode four, so I know a bit more than you do."
Meanwhile the trailer also showed President Fitz unhappy that he couldn't reach Pope, and although he desperately tries to reach her through phone, it goes unanswered. As for her relationship with the married Fitz, Washington previously told the Gold Derby that there could be a "better answer for them" in the upcoming season.
"I understand the role Fitz plays in their heart and in her life. I get that they really really want to be together, so it's hard not to want that for them. But I also really trust the show, and I think it's possible that there could be a better answer for them. We think we know what's best for us, and life shows up with a different answer. So I don't know what's best for Olivia. I just want her to eventually be happy."
The season three finale showed Pope leaving everything behind and going off with Jake to an undisclosed location, and based on the promo, she is somewhere on an exotic beach with a large glass of wine. But her vacation is going to be short-lived, as something is going to lure her right back into the drama of politics.
Could it be to grieve the death of OPA Gladiator Harrison, who was killed by her father? The character was played by Columbus Short, who was fired from the show following his various run-ins with the law, and accusations of domestic abuse.
"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today," Short said in a statement cited by TMZ in April. "Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast..." he said at the time.
"Scandal" season four premieres Thursday, 25 September at 9 p.m. on ABC.
