The State Bank of India (SBI) is likely to announce the results of the preliminary examination for the post of probationary officers (PO) on Wednesday, May 17. Candidates who took the exam can check their results online on the official SBI site.

The SBI PO prelims were held online on April 29 and 30, and on May 6 and 7, and candidates who clear the prelims will qualify for the main examination, which will be held online on June 4.

Here's where you can check if you have cleared the prelims.

  • Log on to official website -- www.sbi.co.in
  • Look for the result in the footer section
  • Click on check result
  • Enter the required details such as name, registration number and the roll number
  • Click on submit and you will be able to access the result

The main exam comprises an objective test of 200 marks and a descriptive section of 50 marks. The objective section is divided into four parts and candidates will have three hours to answer them. To qualify for the descriptive part of the test, candidates must pass in all the four sections of the objective test.

While candidates will not be penalised for questions that haven't been answered, there will be negative marking for wrong answers. The results for the main exams will be out on June 19.

After the candidate secures the pass mark in both the objective and descriptive tests, he/she will be eligible to take up the group discussion and interview rounds, which begin July 10 onwards. The final results will be declared on August 5.

SBI, in February, had announced the requirement of 2,313 probationary officers.
