Are you a State Bank of India (SBI) account holder frequently using online banking for your banking transactions? You have 10 days left to register your phone number with the SBI account. If you fail to link phone number with your SBI account before December 1, the bank will not allow you to do online transactions from December 1.
"As per RBI advisory, it is mandatory to register your mobile number to avail internet banking services. Please register your mobile number by 30.11.2018, failing which, your internet banking access will be deactivated/blocked w.e.f from 01.12.2018," a press statement from SBI reads.
This doesn't mean that your account will be blocked from all the banking activities if you fail to register the phone number. Only internet banking will be blocked.
What should I do to check whether my account number registered with the phone number?
Most of the SBI accounts are already registered with the phone number. If you have doubt about your account follow the following 4 steps to ensure your account is linked with the phone number.
- Open www.onlinesbi.com
- Log in with your online banking credentials
- Now go to My Accounts section and click on Profile. From the options go to Personal Details/Mobile
- Enter your profile password (Please note that profile password is not the login password)
If you have already linked a mobile number with the account then the specified box will show the phone number in 98XXX format. If not, the box will be left blank.
What should I do to register my SBI account with the phone number?
If your mobile number is not registered with the branch, contact your nearest SBI bank branch before November 30.
