Jeddah Airport authorities on Thursday detained one cabin crew member of a Kochi-bound Air India flight on charges of smuggling gold outside Saudi Arabia.
An Air India spokesperson confirmed the detention of its crew member and said the staffer is still in custody.
The spokesperson further said that the airline will take appropriate action after confirming the reason behind his detention.
"The cabin crew is still in detention. We are ascertaining the reason behind his detention," the spokesperson said, PTI reports.
The Air India flight then flew to Kochi with 11 crew members instead of the mandatory 12, according to PTI.
