Saudi Arabia is on an alert over threats of a possible terror attack on one of its malls or an oil installation. Interior ministry spokesman Mansour Turki issued the warning to the kingdom's security forces on Monday.
"There was information about a possible act targeting a mall or Aramco installations. We passed this information to the security forces to be on alert," Turki told Reuters.
"Saudi Arabia is targeted by terrorism. Usually in such situations (conflicts), there are attempts by terrorist groups to take advantage and carry out attacks," he added.
Saudi Arabia is currently conducting airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. Earlier this month, a citizen allegedly shot dead two police officers in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia has also been at constant threat from the Islamic State terror group, which controls large territories in neighbouring Iraq.
Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had openly called for strikes in the kingdom, which houses the holy sites of Mecca and Medina.
