Satyameva Jayate and Gold ended the first day of the weekend with good box office collection. After an excellent start on Independence Day, both the movies had witnessed a sharp decline in business, but the scenario changed again with the advent of the weekend.
Released in around 3,400 screens across India, Gold has had a thunderous start with a collection of Rs 25.25 crore on the opening day. The business declined over the next two days as it collected around Rs 8 crore on Thursday, Aug 16 and Rs 10 crore on Friday, Aug 17.
On the other hand, Satyameva Jayate, which released in around 2,500 screens in India, had made a collection of Rs 20.52 crore at the domestic market on day 1. Likewise, it had also suffered a sharp drop in earning as it collected Rs 7.92 crore on second day and Rs 8 crore on Friday.
As expected, both the movies' collection witnessed a rise as the weekend started. Gold registered a big hike in its collection on day 4. The film reportedly collected Rs 12.50 crore (approximately) at the Indian box office on Saturday, Aug 18, crossing Rs 50 crore mark.
Satyameva Jayate also enjoyed a rise in occupancy on day 4, making a collection of Rs 9 crore (approximately) on Saturday, Aug 18. Its total earning stands at Rs 46 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Gold and Satyameva Jayate are able to perform well at the box office despite the clash because both are of completely different genres, and have different sets of audience. While Gold is making most of the money from multiplexes, the action drama is more popular in single screen theatres.
