Satyameva Jayate and Gold witnessed a decent jump in their box office collection on day 3. After a sharp fall in business on the second day, both the movies failed to show much growth on Friday, Aug 17.
Gold had won the first day collection battle against Satyameva Jayate. The Akshay Kumar-starrer had earned Rs 20.25 crore on opening day, but had suffered a major drop on Thursday, Aug 16 as it could just collect Rs 8 crore.
On the other side, John Abraham's film also had made an excellent business of Rs 20.52 crore on first day, followed by a sharp decline on the next day, earning just Rs 7.92 crore.
Although it was expected that the films' collection will come down compared to first day as Thursday was a working day, the decline was way below the expectation. The two films witnessed some rise in the collection on day 3, but not a significant one.
Goldcollected around Rs 10 crore on its third day, crossing Rs 40 crore mark in three days. Satyameva Jayate, having a strong hold on single screen theatres, earned Rs 8 crore on Friday, taking its 3-days total to around Rs 35 crore.
"#SatyamevaJayate failed to show growth at multiplexes on friday. Film collected ₹ 8 cr nett on friday taking its total to ₹ 34.92 cr nett. Saturday & Sunday collection is expected to be in double digits. [sic]," trade analyst Sumit Kadel tweeted.
"#Gold Friday- ₹ 10 cr nett. Total- ₹ 43 cr nett. Saturday & Sunday should add ₹ 28-30 cr to the total. [sic]," he added in another tweet.
Gold and Satyameva Jayate have their own set of audience, and hence, both the films are earning well, despite the clash. Their business is likely to witness a steady upward trend over the weekend, assuring a satisfactory 5-days total.
