Amitabh Bachchan-Ajay Devgn starrer "Satyagraha", which was released on 30 August, is now affected by new release "Shuddh Desi Romance" at the box office.
Prakash Jha's film, which is based on corruption and politics, had finished its first week on a decent note, but its collections took a hit when it entered its second week.
The film, which was initially released in 2,500 screens, has seen a decline in in business because of newly-released films. Due to a lesser number of screens, the collections of "Satyagraha" declined in India and raked in just ₹1.28 crore on second Friday, taking its overall toll to ₹56.71 crore.
The film might fetch in some big figures in its second weekend, but during the weekdays it seems difficult for it to rake in good earnings. Among the new releases "Zanjeer" and "Shuddh Desi Romance", the latter is dominating the box office. Looking at the box office collections of "SDR", the film will definitely rule the market for at least a week.
Although, the political thriller has raked in more than ₹55 crore, which is pretty good considering its genre, the makers of the film will find it difficult to earn the production cost from the domestic box office run.
Meanwhile, following the success of the film, Prakash Jha will now focus on his next subject "Satsang". After making a hardcore commercial political drama, Jha will likely make a film that will inspired from the life of self proclaim godman Asaram Bapu.
"For now, Prakash Jha wants to shift his interest towards masala movies yet keeping burning socialissue of society as base of project. His next movie will be on Satsang inspired by Asaram Bapu's life," a source close to Jha told The Times of India.
