Sopore, Dec 20 (ANI): A village sarpanch was shot dead by suspected militants in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday. The sarpanch, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, was shot dead when polling was on for the fifth and final phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Bhat succumbed to his bullet injuries while being shifted to the hospital. An FIR has been registered in the case and investigation has been initiated to identify the culprit. In Jammu and Kashmir, the voting is taking place for 20 assembly seats in border districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri. There are 213 candidates in the fray in this phase.
