The makers of Zee TV's "Sarojini" recently shocked viewers when reports of the show's lead Mohit Sehgal's stint coming to an end surfaced. Mohit's character Somendra will meet with an accident, after which the show will take a three-month leap.
According to a report in Telly Chakkar, popular actor Aamir Ali has been roped in to play the new lead on the show. Aamir, who was last seen on "Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls," had recently participated in "Power Couple" along with his wife Sanjeeda Sheikh.
"After the creative team worked out to play on the shock value of audiences, with the killing of Somendar, they were on the lookout for yet another popular face. Actors like Ruslaan Mumtaz, Sartaj Gill, Shaleen Malhotra, Ashish Kapoor were short listed for the role. However, it now looks as though the deal will fall in place with Aamir Ali," a source told the web-portal.
After Somendra's death, the plot of the show will revolve around Sarojini (Shiny Doshi), who will be seen as a young widow and the sole bread winner of her family. Apparently, Aamir's character will be a businessman, whose family will have a role in Somendra's accident.
In other news, "Sarojini," which currently airs at 6:30 p.m., will reportedly be telecast at 6 p.m. from March 28, India Forums reports. The channel has decided to telecast the show at 6 p.m. to make way for new show "Vishkanya - Ek Anokhi Prem Kahaani." The new supernatural show has Vin Rana, Aishwarya Khare and Rohini Banerjee in the lead roles.
However, "Sarojini" lead actress Shiny said that they are not aware of the development. "We don't have any idea about the fate of the show yet. As of now, we haven't been informed anything," Shiny had told the web-portal.
