Vijay's Sarkar has successfully completed its two-week run in theatres and has entered its third week with a bang. With only one week left for the release for Rajinikanth's 2.0, the Thalapathy-starrer should perform well this weekend in order to breach into Rs 250-crore club.
The movie saw the light of the day n 6 November on the occasion of Diwali festival. Sarkar grossed Rs 66.9 crore on the first day at the worldwide box office and ended its extended six-day first weekend at Rs 190.9 crore.
Thereafter the business started declining and the collection of Sarkar completely dropped in its second week. In its 17 days, the Vijay-starrer has minted Rs 155.8 crore at the South Indian box office. The film has earned around 4 crore from rest of India.
The domestic collection of Sarkar stands at 159.8 crore. The movie has added around Rs 75 crore at the overseas box office to take its total tally to Rs 234.8 crore at the worldwide box office.
However, the AR Murugadoss-directorial has one more week left before Rajinikanth's 2.0 hits the screens with huge number of screens. The Vijay-starrer is expected to make way for the superstar's flick.
Hence, this weekend is crucial for Sarkar in order to enter Rs 250-crore club at the global box office.
Sun Pictures-produced Sarkar is an action thriller which is about an NRI fighting against the corrupt electoral system.
