Pawan Kalyan's "Sardar Gabbar Singh" (Sardaar/SGS) started with a bang, but failed to maintain the same response in the following days in its first week. It is now estimated to have collected Rs 83 crore at the worldwide box office in seven days.
"Sardar Gabbar Singh" had created lot of curiosity among the film goers, before its release. The hype surrounding it made its theatrical rights sell at very high prices. The movie was expected to shatter some records of "Srimanthudu" and "Bahubali: The Beginning." The distributors planned to release it in over 2,600 screens across the globe and the movie had very good advance booking for the opening day.
The Bobby-directed action film received massive response in the premiere shows in the key international markets. The film also did fantastic business across the globe in the early morning and matinee shows on the first day. The movie garnered mixed talk from the audience and the world of mouth had its effect in the evening shows.
Due to huge advance booking, "Sardar Gabbar Singh" saw superb collection at the worldwide box office on the first day. However, the movie was affected by negative talk and instead of showing growth, it went on showing drop in its business on the following days. It collected approximately Rs 69 crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend and it share stood at Rs 45+ crore.
The business of the Pawan Kalyan and Kajal Aggarwal starrer hit the rock bottom on Monday and continued to drop on other week days too. "Sardar Gabbar Singh" is estimated to have collected over Rs 14 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the weekdays, which if confirmed will take its seven-day total to over Rs 83 crore gross. The movie is estimated to have earned a share of Rs 52 crore in the first week.
"Sardar Gabbar Singh" is expected to incur huge losses to the distributors. Andhra Box Office tweeted, "#SardaarGabbarSingh Drops on Weekdays. Despite earning considerable figures, is staring at Huge losses due to Overjealous &Ultra High Rates." It added, "#SardaarGabbarSingh will end as the 2nd Highest Earning Film Ever for a South Indian Disaster after #Lingaa."
