The Nizam distribution rights of "Sardaar Gabbar Singh" have been sold for a whopping amount, but Power Star Pawan Kalyan's film has failed to beat the record of "Baahubali: The Beginning."
Recently, we had reported that India's leading distribution house Eros International has acquired the global theatrical rights of "Sardaar Gabbar Singh" for a whopping price. It was also reported that Eros had started the sale of its distribution rights of different areas and inked the deal for all the areas, except Nizam.
Nizam is one of the biggest distribution areas in terms of marketing of Telugu movies and the highest revenue of a single area comes from this region. Hence, there will always be a lot of competition for the theatrical rights for this area. The distributors are always seen vying for the rights of big-ticket films.
"Sardaar Gabbar Singh" had a great demand for its theatrical rights and the movie garnered record-breaking prices in all the regions. These prices increased the demand for its Nizam rights further. It is reported that there were several big distribution companies to bag the rights for this area. But It is Indra Films which had its last laugh.
Indra Films has acquired the Nizam distribution rights of "Sardaar Gabbar Singh" and shelled out a whopping sum of Rs 20 crore on it, according to 123 Telugu. It is the highest price for a film of Pawan Kalyan in the area. The film has beaten the records of "Attarintiki Daredi" and "Srimanthudu", which have fetched Rs 13.80 crore and Rs 14.40 crore, respectively, from the Nizam rights.
Many in the industry had thought that "Sardaar Gabbar Singh" would beat the record of "Baahubali: The Beginning" after seeing the huge hype surrounding it.
